ABOUT SILVIA CASABIANCA

Silvia Casabianca is a LMT since 2000. She became a Certified Trager Practitioner in 2002. After practicing medicine in Colombia, she became a psychotherapist and currently has a practice as a mental health counselor in Naples. She is a holistic practitioner and as such, very much interested in the mind-body unity. She has carefully studied the anatomy and the physiology of movement and finds Trager to be very helpful to patients who suffer from pain and limited ROM. She was the director of the EYES WIDE OPEN holistic center in Bonita Springs.

ABOUT THIS INTRO CLASS:

The Trager® Approach was developed by Dr. Milton Trager. I combines a special modality of manual therapy with soft movement for self-care: Mentastics®.

The practitioner mindfully explores the body with the goal of helping the receiver’s body restore optimal communication between the nervous and the muscular system. Mind and body reconnect through movement and touch. Trager contributes to muscle relaxation by using undulating movement, soft traction and elongation and joint mobilization. The proprioceptive system is stimulated and this leads to the body self-correcting restrictions that’re no longer needed and contractions that serve no purpose. The result is an improvement of range of motion (ROM), and relief of pain and limitation. The Trager practitioner invites the client to experience lightness, freedom, softness, and effortlessness, contributing to self-awareness.

This class also teaches principles of bodymechanics that prevent practitioner’s burnout. TheTrager principles can be incorporated to any massage session.

INTRODUCTION TO THE TRAGER APPROACH

A unique, neuromuscular approach to body and movement re-patterning. The Trager® Approach is a health enhancing system of movement therapy that consists of dancelike movements intended to evoke sensations of freedom and lightness.

This CE course stands alone and also serves as a prerequisite for LEVEL 1 Trager®. You’ll deepen your experience of Movement Mentastics through demonstrations and supervised practice. Trager® is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients.

WHY INTRO TO TRAGER?

  • Learn a system of dance like movements to facilitate greater ease in yourself and your clients.

  • The Movement Mentastics have been likened to ancient, formless tai chi and chi gung, according to Master Huang and the Table Work has been described as exhilarating, deeply relaxing and highly effective for many physical challenges.

  • Increase your awareness.

  • Deepen skills at helping others re-connect to their body.

  • Deepen your capacity to live in presence in work and in life.

WHAT IS TRAGER

Trager® tablework consists of deep, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation, along with feelings of lightness, freedom, and flexibility. The client is also shown simple movements called Mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body.

TRAGER HAS BEEN EFFECTIVE WITH:

While the following beneficial effects have been reported, Trager is not a substitute for traditional medical care:

  • Improved balance and decreased spasticity

  • Dissolution of internalized effects of trauma in the body

  • Greater ease and joy of movement with decrease of pain

  • Deeper feelings of personal integration and peace and decreased anxiety

COURSE FEATURES

By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:

  • Practice Trager principles both within Trager and apply them to other modalities.

  • Learn to create and discover movements for yourself and others based on Mentastics Principles.

  • Practice table work based on Trager Principles on several areas of the body.
